Our son joined this youth orchestra this year...but he joined under duress. He had zero interest in giving up time almost every single Saturday to practice with the orchestra. His viola teacher made him a secret deal...try it for one semester then he can quit if he doesn't like it. Well we didn't need to wait that long to see his decision. The very first weekend they had an overnight retreat and he came home psyched, happy, tired, and proudly bragging how many hours he had played his instrument in 2 days! Thanksgiving weekend was the first weekend off from practice and that day, despite having fun with visiting cousins, he told me he really missed not having TRYPO practice. The semester ended and he headed straight into the next with no discussion - and he's decided to play with them next year too, and he has convinced several friends to audition too. He loves everything about being a part of TRYPO - the other musicians, the conductor and staff, and the high level of playing from the orchestra. Thank you TRYPO for a wonderful, enriching experience for our son!
