Review for Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Kerala, , India

Rating: 5 stars

I was in Kerala immediately after Asian tsunami 2005 and I saw the monks in the ashram work tirelessly. There were streets where relief trucks could not go in. The monks, male and female would form a human chain pass relief materials. They worked 20 hours a day with little food and rest. This is a great organization. Somehow they know how to make more out of a dollar than in other places I have worked in. It is amazing!!!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Asian tsunami relief 2005 and Amma's kitchen

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Cannot. Everything is as it should be.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Everything is volunteer effort. No one is paid!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Lovely people who are working to improve themselves and become better persons. They are very committed to the path of self transformation

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

build houses for so many homeless around the world, have more food pantries, and create domestic violence shelters

Ways to make it better...

nothing. I was transformed by the experience.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

People do not understand that it is not a religious institution. It is a spiritual organization focused on social service.

One thing I'd also say is that...

This organization humbles me.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & Tsunami relief work, Amma's kitchen project.
