Review for Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Kerala, , India

Rating: 5 stars

I have never heard of an organization that does so much for so many. The MA Math has founded and run orphanages, schools, colleges, and hospitals. They have built thousands of houses in India and elsewhere to help victims of earthquakes and other catastrophes. They provide pensions and training to widows and the destitute. My own direct experience has been with a local chapter of Mother's Kitchen, an international effort of MA Math, to cook and serve food to the homeless. I have participated in the Kansas City chapter, serving meals to homeless men and women in conjunction with a local church. The other remarkable feature of MA Math is that 100% on contributions pay for materials. All of the organization's labor is provided by volunteers. So a donated dollar goes so much farther than with most nonprofits.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The heartful, selfless service rendered to those less fortunate. The attitude of all volunteers I've encountered is positive, helpful and non-judgmental. They recognize that providing service blesses the giver more than the receiver.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The strong, positive feelings I have of making a difference, even on a small scale compared to all the problems in the world.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Loving. Kind. Professional. Competent. Patient.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Provide probably $20 million of service because almost all of the work is performed by volunteers.

Ways to make it better...

I volunteered more often.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I am moved to tears by the loving compassion of the volunteers and the MA Math founder, Amma.
