Review for Compassion International, Inc., Colorado Springs, CO, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I have been sponsoring a young man in the Dominican Republic since he was six. He is now 19. I have had nothing but a positive experience with Compassion. The letters from him are not always full of exciting news, but he's a kid. Mine weren't exciting either when I was a kid. I have been humbled by the thank you notes I get from him though to thank me for my sponsorship and extra gifts. Most often he buys a new outfit with his birthday gifts from me. One year I received a bonus at my job and decided to share part of it with him and his family. They purchased beds for the first time. As a spoiled American, I was humbled deeply.

The customer service staff at Compassion are terrific and go above and beyond to serve. I can't say enough good things about them! On one occasion, I called them to change my address as my husband and I separted. The woman on the phone offered to pray for our marriage with the other staff. I felt those prayers and was truly grateful. Another time I called and a staff member suggested I write to a child that has a sponsor that doesn't write to him/her.

I took on the challenge and it has been a total blessing to me. When the child was young, he drew me beautiful pictures of his village in the mountains of Bolivia. Now he is 14 and writes me letters about his struggles. We share our individual struggles with each other now and pray for each other. I am able to share Scripture with him and encourage his heart.

I can't say enough good things about Compassion International. They have changed my life and my outlook on today's world. There is such a need to help these small ones and in Jesus' name, we are.
