Review for International Development Enterprises (iDE), Denver, CO, USA
International Development Enterprises as an NGO working in Asia and some parts of Africa tackles poverty by empowering the rural poor to become entrepreneurs in their own world that they find themselves thereby improving their standard of living.
Their innovations of technologically motivated where they help the rural poor use small, simple and not sophisticated irrigation equipments to improve water use and to store water for economical activities to boost their production in the cultivation of vegetables to increase their income has gone a long way of providing for the rural poor a three square meal a day.
The creation of markets for their produce has also alleviated the problems of farmers trying to get a good market for their produce and gives them a substantial amount for their produce.
Water storage and minimum use of water and maximum output, training of farmers on Integrated Pest Management(IPM), Linking farmers with MFI's and the creation of market for their produce are activities enough that are alleviating poverty and empowering them economically in my part of the world, thus Ghana/Africa.
