This center is an amazing resource for our community. The BRC provides lactation support for families, support groups for breastfeeding mothers, and a myriad of other helpful seminars or classes. I have met some of the most amazing women through the support group and have learned a tremendous amount through my experiences at the BRC.

My first experience was as a mother in crisis. We were short on notice and were still given an appointment with a wonderful lactation consultant, Janice. Through a one-on-one feeding session, we learned that I was having supply issues and that my son was not receiving enough to thrive. Janice set me up with a hospital grade pump, taught me how to use it, and the rules for the breast milk pumped. She followed up with me via phone and encouraged me to attend the support group hosted at the center.

The BRC has changed my life. I was scared and had read too much on all topics. The women, that I have met and worked with at the BRC, have taught me so much. Postpartum depression is a real concern for many women. I found a group of women through the BRC that have provided emotional support at the most unusual hours (as one might expect with a baby) and that support has given me confidence and those warm fuzzies that last. Knowing that I am not alone in my struggle with motherhood has made all the difference!

For the record, I can exclusively breastfeed now and at 5 days postpartum was forced to supplement for survival. The dedication of the women at the BRC has changed not only my life but many other women and their families. I had to fight for my ability to breastfeed and was fortunate enough that a center such as the BRC existed in my community. I only wish that more communities had such a wonderful resource!
