Several years ago my son Alex suffered a stroke. He was unable to speak more than four words or when asked to pick out an item from a picture recognize that item. A clinician (Cathy) at Cal State Long Beach University recommended that I take Alex to B.R.A.I.N. (FBI) I was really impressed upon arriving at FBI then located in Long Beach ,Ca now in Cypress, Ca. Everyone was instrumental in welcoming us and making Alex belong, he was amongst persons he could relate with. They didn't focus on his weaknesses but rather on his strengths. B.R.A.I.N. along with Speech Therapy has helped my son Alex regain about 85 % of his verbal communication skills. Alex still cannot read but with a new class that FBI has just started I am confident that too will come back to him. Thanks to all the volunteers, guest speakers and the FBI staff my son is well on his way to recovery.
