My Nonprofit Reviews

HumanRightsRightNow
Review for Global Exchange, San Francisco, CA, USA
I think the exchange of good ideas and committed work between the Global South and North is essential for building a more just, sustainable and equitable world. I would love to take part in one of their Reality Tours - as soon as I have some free time!

Review for Thousand Currents, Berkeley, CA, USA
IDEX works for the human rights of indigenous communities around the world - and they have an amazing track record doing so. What sets them apart from most corporatist, market-based international development organizations is IDEX's tremendous amount of respect for local communities self-determination, agency, wisdom and power. They are not trying to make the developing world into the capitalist vision of the world, they are trying to let developing countries create their own vision of the world.

Review for Amnesty International Of The Usa Inc, New York, NY, USA
Amnesty does amazing work giving voice to the voiceless, hope to the powerless and power to the oppressed. Do they engage in the most strategic, targeted marketing possible in their fundraising? Yes. Why would you want them to do anything less? They only do it because they need to and because it works. Sorry you are so offended by receiving an extra piece of mail, but think about what that mailing ultimately serves - people whose human rights are being violated.

Review for Human Rights Watch Inc, New York, NY, USA
Human Rights Watch does invaluable work protecting and promoting human rights around the world. Their commitment to stand up for the most oppressed and marginalized members of the world community is inspiring. Others are complaingin that they engage in the standard practices necessary for a nonprofit to maintain solvency and continue its critical work. What's the problem?
