Review for SQ Foundation, Los Angeles, CA, USA
I started working with SQ Foundation over 10 years ago. There was a community in El Salvador with no school for the children. SQ donated the funds to help us build the school and every year they have continued to support the community. I have been a supporter of their projects around the world since then. They work within communities with so much integrity and respect. I have spoken to people from Ethiopia who have benefited so much from working as a team with SQ. I really love what they do and am a proud supporter!
Review for SQ Foundation, Los Angeles, CA, USA
SQ Foundation has been working with a community in rural El Salvador for the last 3 years. The area has no running water or electricity. When we first visited the area, the children had to travel very far to attend school, if they even went to school at all. A lot of them had to stay behind to watch their siblings as their parents went to work on the coffee plantations or traveled to the nearby city for work. I have watched with my own eyes as this small community has been literally transformed. SQ donated the resources to build a school within the community and now all of the children have a place to study. The teacher travels about 3 hours away from his own family and spends the week in a room that SQ built for him. Mothers of the school children rotate every day to cook the kid's meals, and there are plans for night school so parents can learn how to read and write. When the Mayor's office saw the work that was being done, they contributed with their support. They were able to connect the community with other charitable foundations who contributed the school furniture, another donated new tin for people's homes and another donated huge bins to collect rain water. I have watched as these once forgotten community is now coming back to life. When I recently visited the area I was able to see the school in action, the children with their smiling faces and the proud parents. A very poor family called me to their home, and in gratitude to the Foundation, and the Foundation's CEO, Derek O'Neill, they gave us a Rooster! It was incredibly touching moment. I am so honored to be involved with SQ.
