Review for The Jazz Gallery, New York, NY, USA
Like many that have posted, I only have the most positive things to say about the Jazz Gallery. So many in fact that it's difficult to choose, and even more difficult to not be utterly repetitive. I guess what always leaps out at me is the absolute consistency of excellence in their programming. When scrolling through their future and former shows there's an incessant internal "Wow, I want to see that!" that chimes without end. There's no other club in the city that offers that kind of attention to the scene and with such an accurate and thoughtful barometer. But what makes that extra special, is that the club manages to maintain its reputation as having the best shows nightly, while offering chances to a slew of young and upcoming artists that might not get the opportunity to showcase their talent and vision. It cannot be overstated how essential this is to the community, and the JG pulls it off with grace and a ludicrous success rate. Having both played there and sat innumerable times in the audience, I couldn't recommend this organization enough, or speak an higher to it's impact in the community.
