My Nonprofit Reviews

Katy Clune
Review for Root Division, San Francisco, CA, USA
I'm an intern at Root Division, and what I've been most impressed with is how accessible the staff is, especially given that they're modern and have pretty big openings. And the idea of giving artists cheap studio space in exchange for giving back to the community is a really nice idea. *This review was collected during a site visit to Root Division's 3 Minute Film Festival and entered by GreatNonprofits staff on behalf of the reviewer

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the opening nights--it's always packed, people are having a good time, and when I work at the door people are always impressed with the mission. Especially when I give my schpiel about what we do, people are always willing to donate.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
helping with the shows and the openings, and really getting exposure to all facets of what it's like being an artist through things like the 2nd Saturday programs.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
they're really great. Helpful, supportive, approachable.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
move to a bigger space, support more artists and increase the school programs. One of the neatest things RD does is run art programs for public schools that don't have the budget for them, so running more art programs and afterschool programs would be great.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
reaching out to a broader demographic with regard to a more racially diverse audience.
