I became a supporter of this wonderful sanctuary when I looked into the eyes of Linus, a magnificent orangutan who had been rescued from sad circumstances. When he arrived at the center he couldn't stand up properly and he was so dirty that 15lbs of excrement had to be carefully cut from his coat by a dedicated and expert caregiver. He was being kept as a domestic pet and had just grown too big to be safely handled by his owner. Thank goodness the owner realized that his best place was at the sanctuary. As a rainforest animal, kept as a domestic pet, he had never even seen the rain. Now I see him outside whenever he wants exercise and resting inside in his comfy nest when he's feeling lazy. I love to hear his long calls at night. It's a happy ending for Linus.
