Review for Stepping Stones Foundation of Hope, Schaumburg, IL, USA

Rating: 5 stars

What a miracle! Yes, a miracle, that is what the Stepping Stones Foundation of Hope (SSFOH) is not only for me and my fellow board members and volunteers who are blessed to work for it but even more so for those it has benefitted through its many activities in Uganda. From facilitating education for needy girl-children and orphans, conducting public health workshops, water provision and extension deep into the villages of Bunnamweri, to build a beautiful grotto for Our Lady, a Divine Mercy Way of the Cross - reminder of God's love, to distributing prayer materials, there has been nothing but joy and gratitude for us. A lot of suffering has been put to an end, hope has been revived and love lived. Nevertheless, one may still be wondering why we do all this. None of what we do is that easy. There is no simple task. To give you a personal answer, there is a saying in Swahili, which goes, “Mtu ni wattu”-“A person is people.” I am convinced that the suffering of others is my suffering, the wellbeing of others is my wellbeing and the joy of others is my joy. The happier other people become, the happier I shall be.

The reasoning here is related with what Jesus says in Matthew 25, when you feed them little ones, you feed me. When you give them a drink, you give to me. The point is the when all is said and done, we are all linked, connected, our destinies are interwoven in Him. Hence, SSFOH’s motto, “Many walks … one destiny.”
Thank you SSFOH and its stakeholders. Mwebale nnyo! Thank you God.
