The Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary has personally brought me much peace. My beautiful Alexandrian Floyd, is a pet I made a lifelong commitment to, I had him with me twenty years. I was diagnosed with a genetic liver and lung disease called Alpha1, unfortunately I'm lung affected and the first thing my specialist asked about was pets, when I said I had a parrot he told me to get rid of my bird. I didn't for five years, the panic I felt about not being in direct charge of him caused me such distress. I know the plight of unwanted or abused birds and was ecstatic when I found FEBS and spoke to their director Pat, I knew he'd have the same permanence there as with me and would not face a life of uncertainty. I visit Floyd when I can and I know he is loved and cared for, as a matter of fact he has a very purposeful life now by getting to educate people on field trips and at events! FEBS is a blessing for every bird that gets to be there and needs all the support it can get!
