Review for Lake County Animal Services, Lakeport, CA, USA
I began fostering dogs for Lake County Animal Services (LCAS) in September 2009, and began working on their database of dogs and adopters in February 2011. It is such rewarding work: LCAS chooses great dogs, keeps them in private homes until the dogs get adopted, and all of us work with the dogs to make sure they will make their new owners happy. And we see those happy dog owners over and over--they come to our events bringing their dog for a visit, and they email us with good news and pictures. Every Saturday, the founder and director, Karen, drives hours and hours to bring the dogs to an adoption event, and the other six days of the week, she drives hours and hours rescuing dogs, placing dogs in new homes, helping previous adopters care for their dogs, and helping other dog owners be responsible and spay and neuter their dogs. All of this is after Karen works a full-time job; she is full of energy and patience and good intentions and experience. Karen and LCAS do great work, and it's a pleasure and an honor to work with them.
