Review for Susan B Anthony Recovery Center, Pembroke Pines, FL, USA
My name is Meredith Mills and because of Susan B Anthony recovery center, I am now thirteen years, eleven months, and eight days sober today. I owe my life to this amazing program and the unbelievable dedicated staff they have. I was thirty, homeless, and strung out on drugs & alcohol when I gave birth to my second son. I had tried five other rehabs programs and while I learned something from each place, it was the unique approach and coordinated services that Susan B Anthony offered that finally reached me.
I had my first drink of alcohol before age ten and was out on the streets orphan by age thirteen. I was hard core addict for over twenty years before I found Susan B Anthony recovery center. I had tried many other community and state services but could never stay sober. Getting sober was not the challenging part for me as it was the staying sober that I struggled with. Susan B Anthony recovery center offered the tools and support I needed to learn to overcome this challenge. While all the services had part in my recovery, it was the community integrative support that helped the most.
Susan B Anthony recovery center will always be a part of my heart and my life. Because of this program, I am over thirteen years sober and working on my master’s degree in social work. I have been able to raise my son who is now thirteen and a happy, healthy teenager. I am still in contact with this program today and enjoy hearing how other women benefit from the services. If it wasn’t for fact that I live across the country, I would be either working there or at the very least, volunteering there. I love this program and hope everyone realizes that this is the organization to nominate. Meredith Mills BSSW
