My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Proyecto Itzaes, Palo Alto, CA, USA
I went on my first trip as a volunteer with Proyecto Itzaes a few months ago and loved it. What I liked most about this group is its grass roots nature. We were working with the residents of the Yucatan and they were doing more than their share. This assures community buy-in and that the project will be self sustaining. The people were wonderful and the kids really seemed to appreciate our help. The older projects that we visited were already providing a place for the children to go after school and giving them access to a computer lab, books, games, etc. One of the "alumni" of the system was in Law School, and he was right there with us helping to paint the building and provide mentoring for the younger children.
