Review for AMERICAN VETERANS HERITAGE CENTER INC, Fairborn, OH, USA
I am proud to be a volunteer with the American Veterans Heritage Center. Located on the campus of the Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Campus, AVHC's mission is to preserve the history of our veterans through refurbishing historical buildings, recording veterans stories and sponsoring events that will include the community so that they may come to the campus and visit with our veterans who live there. AVHC has worked hard to bring our veterans campus activities such as the annual Patriot Freedom Festival, held the last weekend of every year. Also we have an annual Native American "Eastern Woodland Gathering" to honor all veterans. These and our other activities mean so much to the resident veterans; those who cannot leave the campus because of severe health reasons. The veterans would otherwise be isolated from the community. Other goals include education of our youth about the history of our veterans and their sacrifices, promote tourism in the Dayton area and encourage patriotism.

Review for 4 Freedom Equestrian Team, Arcanum, OH, USA
As a Gold Star Wife, I have followed the 4 Freedom Equestrian Team's visits to the Dayton VA and to various parades and fairgrounds in the Western Ohio area. I have seen and talked to the veterans who are so moved by the dedication of the 4 Freedom Team that it brings them out to talk to others. The 4 Freedom team has performed memorial services with the Blue Star Mothers of the Miami Valley and also supported the Patriot Freedom Festival for many years. They are instrumental in helping veterans with their emotional issues with their recreational therapy. The veterans talk to the team members and also are able to get close to the horses, brushing, petting, and relating. It is so meaningful to me personally to see the smiles on our veterans faces.
