Review for Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Kerala, , India

Rating: 5 stars

M.A. Math has been providing an incredible range of services--some are health, education, housing, meals, counseling, hospice, disaster relief--to all ages and locations for almost 20 years. I have watched as these programs grow each year, incredibly through the efforts of thousands of volunteers and under the constant and loving supervision of Mata Amritanandamayi. I have visited the ashram and several schools in Kerala, and the tertiary care hospital in Cochin, and seen first hand what is being accomplished. Anyone would be greatly moved, inspired and astonished to see how everyone associated with all these projects is so practical, so efficient, and yet so personally caring.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

The M.A. Math organized a world peace conference in India that brought dozens of countries together to educate and inspire, and to trigger action in many of the charitable efforts being carried on.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

For me personally, to see that such a thing is possible has been amazing. In the west, we argue about how much of their donations charities actually use to provide services. The M.A. Math must have the highest percentage in the world.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Careful, full of care, and carrying out even the smallest tasks with attention and kindness.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build hundreds of houses. Treat thousands of patients. Educate villages full of children. Serve tens of thousands of meals. It already does all this!

Ways to make it better...

There was nothing that could have been improved. The whole event was astonishing in its proportions and execution. I have never seen anything like it, and it should be a model for governments everywhere.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

In the future, when the spiritual leader of the charity is gone, the organization will have to adapt and this may be challenging.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About once a year

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009
