Review for Light of Truth Center, Inc., Baltimore, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The Light of Truth Center is one of the most inspiring, worthwhile and helpful organizations I have encountered in my many years of community service and advocacy. The vision of Vaile Leonard, founder, (inspired by her own experiences with addiction recovery) is a model of excellence for serving women who are seeking recovery from substance abuse addiction and the housing they need to be stable as they go through the process. The housing model is an innovation in recovery housing that builds counsciousness within all who participate, whether receiving services or volunteering. What makes LTC so unique is the spiritual principles that are modeled and lived (not just talked about) by the founder, staff and volunteers and the commitment to keep the main focus on what empowers the women in residence to move forward in their lives. The love, genuine caring and concern is so evident in the quality of services, atmosphere and environment Over the 16 years that I have volunteered and /or supported the LTC I have seen women who others had given up on, turn their lives completely around and discover their own abilities to live better lives. From the loving, compassionate but disciplined attitude of staff to the quality of program components that uplift, treat and teach real world living skills to residents, it is a wholistic approach that has been accomplished largely through the commitment of people to serve women in ways that support them to understand their worthiness. I absolutely love the Light of Truth Center, the work being done and all the wonderful souls who are part of this amazing journey. With appreciation, respect and deep gratitude to all who are part of LTC I Am, Reverend Bernette L. Jones
