Review for Concho Valley Home for Girls, Inc., San Angelo, TX, USA
I lived in the Concho Valley Home for Girls in the late 1980's. I was a young scared girl going in there but I left with alot of knowledge that helped me as I entered Adult Hood. I was taught the simple things in life as in laundry, chores, cooking and helping others. I still to this day remember my time in the home with sweet memories of the Girls that became sisters to me and the House Parents that became Parents to us. My story is simple and I am not ashamed to share . My mother was a single mom to me and my older sister and she did everything in her power to make sure we had every thing we needed . I was the hyperactive child who would absolutely refuse to go to school.. I was sent to live in the home by a local judge in town who I would thank today if I could. The girls home has always been on my mind over the last 20 plus years. Being reunited now with the girls that I lived with at that time just goes to show how much of a bond we all had back then. We try to get together at least 2x a year if not more. We have volunteered for 2 tea parties and another fundraiser with the mustang car show and we plan on doing many many more! After all we are "THE 80S GIRLS"
