Growing up, as an unaffiliated Jew descended from ex-patriots of the former Soviet Union, I was consumed by the streets of Brooklyn. Then as I got older, my philosophical journey brought me to the decision that Judaism would be my choice of lifestyle, thus a new challenge opened up. At this crucial juncture it became clear that defining for myself a proper Jewish community would be of vital importance. At this time, I stumbled upon what would eventually become RAJE. It became a home for me where I was able to practice Shabbat more than just in theory, but by actual halakhic standards. I was able to eat three kosher meals, learn from the Rabbis, and be in a place that had the presence of Shabbat. One cannot count what I have received out of this non-for-profit organization. Its contribution in my life is priceless.
