As a newcomer to the D.C. area, EESI proves to be an exciting place to immerse oneself in the environmental happenings of our capitol. While interning with EESI, I gained valuable insight into the inner-workings of our government and the importance of coalition-building. EESI provides materials that explain important environmental issues in ways that multiple stakeholders can understand and utilize. Furthermore, EESI proves itself as an active voice on the hill by making timely reposes to environmental news events and legislative affairs. They make an asserted effort to attend events across the city to learn from the research of other organizations and engage in progressive dialogue. The employees of EESI are dedicated to informing policymakers and citizens alike about the importance of achieving innovative solutions to our country's greatest environmental needs. They are central force bringing together important figures in the environmental community to have critical dialogue that drives the policy formation here in D.C.
