Review for Hands Across the Sea, Inc., Boston, MA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I became aware of the awesome work of “Hands Across the Seas” organization just over a years ago through a peace Corp Volunteer who I was working with at that time. I was so very amazed at the number of schools and organizations that they were helping in such practical and significant ways to help promote literacy across the region. I became very excited about this news as I had myself with the aid of community and Peace Corp volunteers to run a reading programme in my community and needed some support.
At a time when the government of poor countries like Grenada simple does not have the resources to invest in programmes that are absolutely necessary for the development of their societies. This organization is providing invaluable support thus allowing organizations like ours “Proactive Nation Builders” to continue achieving its goals.
When I contacted Hands Across the Seas I remember having the feeling that this organization really cares. Even though they were not able to commit to helping us that year I was sure that they would do it as soon as they could. To our greatest delight they kept in contact with us always finding out how we were doing and what our needs were. Two of our main goals are to help raise the academic standard which our kids are now performing at by identifying high achieving students at the top of the class and those struggling at the bottom of the grade six classes throughout our school district. Both of these groups are in need of added attention to help them achieve academic success. Our second goal is the promotion of cultural awareness and preservation.
Their support is making a world of difference in what we are trying to do. They share our vision for education in our county and region. By providing our schools and organizations with the tools they need to effectively do their work they are empowering volunteers like me to make our countries a much better place.
