My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for The Ama Foundation, Berkeley, CA, USA
My husband and I have volunteered at Ama Ghar, the children's home funded by the Ama Foundation, every year since 2003. We've watched these children grow from quiet, frightened and abandoned to happy, smiling, well-educated kids... they inspire us with their ability to overcome their awful backgrounds and become successful citizens of Nepal... Ama Ghar does amazing work. Like many non-profits, Ama Foundation is struggling to provide enough funding to take care of these kids and provide them with the best possible education - so I hope that the visibility offered by Great Nonprofits will help their cause.

Review for The Ama Foundation, Berkeley, CA, USA
The Ama Foundation funds Ama Ghar, a home for orphaned and disadvantaged children outside Kathmandu, Nepal. As a volunteer who has been visiting Ama Ghar annually since 2003, I can tell you that these children are raised in a loving, secure environment that stresses education and the kind of values that most Nepali children would get from their families. The children all go to English-speaking schools where they learn computer skills as well as the Three Rs - and all children are supported through the furthest level of education that they can accomplish - and the goal is for them to become self-sustaining, productive citizens of their country. I believe that Ama Foundation is raising the next group of leaders for Nepal - I'm proud to be associated with them.
