My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for KoreanAmericanStoryorg Inc, Scarsdale, NY, USA
My father is 83 and my mother is 77. They came to the US 40 years ago, when I was 6. As part of KoreanAmericanStory.org's Legacy project, I recently interviewed my parents. I uncovered new stories of their escape from North Korea, their struggles establishing a life in Cleveland, Ohio and most touching, the things they regretted the most. Of course, topics like this never came up in normal conversation. I'm so grateful to have permanently captured these stories on film. My children may not be very interested in grandma and grandpa's stories now, but I know the time will come when they will want to know and their grandparents may not be with us then. Additionally, I am proud that KoreanAmericanStory.org embraces and gives a voice to the adoptee, bi/multi-racial and the LGBT Korean American community and raises up important issues such as illegal immigrants and mental illness that are often kept in the dark.
