Review for Sanatana Dharma Foundation Inc, Dallas, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is an organization working towards bringing about a systemic change in the perceptions of people about Hindus and Hinduism. I have found every volunteer and board member to be of the highest commitment, integrity, and passion for the cause. Most members are highly respectful of volunteers time, and support, to the organization.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Their radio program bringing about a positive change in the perceptions of several people.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Be more careful while choosing board members

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Learning about several nuances of India and Hinduism.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Enthusiastic, passionate, knowledgeable, and mostly respectful of volunteers.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Built enough educational facilities to transform the lives of more than a million children in India.

Ways to make it better...

Some of the board members were more guarded in their speech.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

finances, volunteers, and media support

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

Review for Sankara Eye Foundation USA, Milpitas, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I came into SEF volunteer team thanks to my wife. I have found that this organization has great leadership potential at the headquarters where the founders put in their heart and soul towards the cause. Volunteering for SEF is a learning experience, one gets to meet, interact and work with different types of personalities which can be quite frustrating at times but somehow the cause and the goal to achieve "Vision 2020 by the year 2020" keeps everyone going and the disputes if any get resolved. I feel that the board members don't travel enough to pep up volunteers and make them work harder or create leadership in different cities of the US. Currently SEF-HQ at Bay Area is like an island of leadership, initiative and power. The other chapters lack the drive and enthusiasm that is seen in the HQ. Instead of just conducting conference calls, I believe that someone from the board should travel around the country every quarter and motivate volunteers to do more. This will take the organization closer to its goal. I have not visited any of the hospitals yet so apart from the information in SEF newsletter and media reports I don't know what the SEF India is doing.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Reading about the hundreds of thousands of people who have gained sight.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would make the board members travel around the country to pep volunteers and recognize their efforts.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Participating in promotion activities.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

I haven't met any staff yet... the volunteers were mostly enthusiastic, passionate about the cause, courteous, and friendly.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Get lot closer to its goal of Vision 2020 by 2020. It would build 3-4 more eye hospitals in needy places in rural India and help the poor and visually impaired.

Ways to make it better...

There was a better coordination between headquarters and regional chapters

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Lack of regional leadership in volunteers.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The organization needs more transparency and the board/ CEO needs to be more assertive.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?
