Review for Promise Worldwide, Fremont, CA, USA
The purpose of Promise Worldwide is to educate and empower underprivileged children across the world. The goal is to provide knowledge to children through literacy so they have self-respect, can make informed decisions about their personal and human rights, be self-supportive and be a positive contributor to their families and communities. They also give opportunity to women earning their own living by helping them produce handicrafts which are sold to large corporations worldwide. The organization is currently active in Kolkata, India, with plans to increase centers worldwide and work with other organizations with a similar purpose. Promise supports several projects in the slums of Kolkata focusing more on girls and women.
