Review for Schmahl Science Workshops, San Jose, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is an excellent non-profit that provides hands on science programs for children. My son has always been interested in science however in his school courses he only learns about science through reading, videos and very little lab work. Schmahl actually got him involved in science with hands-on labs and explained how science is applicable every day and in everything we do. We can't afford to only teach our kids the basics in schools they need to be motivated to want to learn and apply their learning to better the world. Schmahl is a great way to enhance the science capabilities of any school.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

My son's interest in science

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The dedication and quality of the teachers that teach the workshops

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Excellent teachers that not only teach science but teach students life skills.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand their programs outside of the bay area and purchase more science equipment for students to use.

Ways to make it better...

The organization had the ability to develop more workshops and expand to more schools

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Obtaining money to pay for administration costs and to carry them over when public school payments are delayed.

One thing I'd also say is that...

The Executive Director is very creative and really cares about the programs that are developed for the schools, after school workshops and summer workshops

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2008

Role:  Board Member & Not only am I a board member I have volunteered to help in weekend workshops where kids built cars, made t-shirt designs using chromatography, and took apart engines.
