Review for Horse Power for Kids Inc, Tampa, FL, USA
I started volunteering at Horse Power for Kids in April of 2012 and I fell in love with all of the animals immediately! I was suprised that there were a few animals I didn't even know existed. There a some great people that I have met and work with at Horse Power for Kids, and a tremendous amount of work to be done each day. When you see the big smiles on the faces of the children that come to visit, it is worth it. To be a part of a childs first pony ride or watch their wonderment at petting a goat or baby chick it is so much fun. A lot is done to try and extend this experience to all children. It is the mission of the farm to allow as many underprivileged / special needs children as possible to visit and enjoy this experience for no charge. There are several programs to make this happen, my favorite being the "Fun on the Farm" day which happens every month. Kids, whether special needs or inner city or underpriveleged in some way are invited to spend a day at the farm with their family and enjoy a nice lunch to boot! It takes a lot of help from the community and volunteers to keep this going. To me it is a lofty goal, but definately worthwhile. :)
