Molotov Theatre Group is a 501c3 non-profit theatre based in Washington, DC. Its focus is preserving and exploring the aesthetic of the Grand Guignol French Theatre of Horror, and it applies that aesthetic to classic works of the genre and new and contemporary works. The company is recognized by the leading academic in this field, Professor Richard Hand of the University of Glamorgan in Wales. Molotov Theatre Group has been awarded several distinctions for its productions, including Best Comedy in the 2007 Capital Fringe Festival, and Best Overall in the 2008 Capital Fringe Festival. Additionally, Molotov Theatre Group has several educational outreach efforts. It offers workshops and skill-building in the Grand Guignol aesthetic, and has launched The Molotov Literacy Project to promote adolescent and adult literacy through programs connected with new and classic works of horror fiction.
