Review for The YP Foundation, New Delhi, , India

Rating: 5 stars

You get to know what people go through behind closed doors. Their skeletons. You learn to see the people you deal with in workshops as just that. People. You start to see what it feels like to be on their side, whether they regret whatever decision they took or not. You learn that you have no authority to judge anyone for their decisions because it is their decision after all. It gives you perspective. It changes the way you look at everything and everyone.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

using the kind of empathy and understand they instilled in me when talking to the kids going through a hard time. It works, too. when people know you really do want to listen, they are open books.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Focus a lot more on how to get funding, Only when you are very stable yourself can you help others. Not that we are deprived. But there is so much more they could do.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I have met a lot of people with the same intentions, to help people. I have seen these people change with me. So have i.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Extremely empathetic. Understanding. They were people who actually knew what they were doing.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the life of every citizen in the country, They have the people, they have the skill, they have the knowledge. They know their ends. All they need is more means.

Ways to make it better...

I would have had a better place to have training sessions in. Someplace more easily accessible and less jammed.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The lack of other sister organizations dealing with the same issues. In a country as vastly populated as India, one YP just isn't enough.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Anyone who has the opportunity should involve themselves in this organisation as much as they can. It is extremely helpful. It makes you feel amazing about yourself.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2009

Role:  Volunteer & I Researched about substance abuse, volatile inhalants and gateway drugs so that i could deal with school kids going through the same thing in workshops with greater ease.
