Review for Center for Child Counseling, Inc., Palm Beach Gardens, FL, USA
I have been a volunteer Research and Program Consultant as well as an honorary Board menber of All'Bout Children(ABC) for the
past 10 years.Throughout this period I have been impressed with the extent to which ABC fulfills its
mission of helping thousands of at-risk preschool children, their families, and teachers.ABC actually walks the walk that many childcare programs merely talk about.ABC staff, guided by its co-directors,Jane Robinson and Roxanne Grobbel, have the courage to implement the evidence-based research needed to ensure ongoing program accountability.ABC's leadership as a non-profit grassroots community agency has been recognized through a number of awards, including the Sapphire Award from the Florida Blue Shield Foundation.
In addition to its innovative child-centered,resilience-building play therapy groups,ABC provides highly rated workshops for preschool teachers, counseling for parents, and a systematic comprehensive curriculum for hands-on training for a large number of graduate student interns.
A few words about my background:I am a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard;I earned my Ph.D at Columbia University. After serving as Dean of the Smith College School for Social Work for 15 years,I was a Professor at the University of Southern California. I was Principal Investigator for three NIMH-supported research grants.
ABC makes its program available to many underserved children, thereby providing them with the opportunity to foster their learning readiness as well building their ability to improve their social and emotional skills.
I am pleased to give ABC my enthusiatic recommendation for a Social Justice Award.
