My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Asheville Humane Society, Asheville, NC, USA
My husband and I adopted our dog from ACN a few months ago and it was a wonderful experience. My friend had suggested them for a new dog when we lost our Mitzi, so I thought we'd go down to their shelter and pick one out. Instead, we met with adoption staff and talked about what want in a dog. We are seniors, but very active. They steered us towards several dogs who would be a good fit with us, including a little mix who we had already walked by with little interest. But when they put her in Howard's lap, he melted. I didn't think he would ever fall for another dog the way he loved Mitzi but I was wrong. The foster mom showed up to bring her home about then, so we got to talk to her. Turns out she had many of the same habits as Mitzi and we took that as a sign. "Lily" as she is now known, has filled the hole in our heart left by Mitzi. I can't believe we had walked right by her. I have such an appreciation for the kind staff at ACN and the way they took so much time to really help us find the right one. It is obvious how much they care about every single animal in their care and how hard they work to get the right adoption. I cannot imagine life without Lily now. Everyone should adopt from the Compassionate Network!
