My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for American Kidney Fund, Rockville, MD, USA
I cant thank this organization enough for their help while my husband was battling kidney disease. My husband , Jerry, was on dialysis for 2 1/2 years and couldnt work so his health insurance was Medicare only with a supplemental but it was expensive for us. I work 2 jobs so it was difficult to pay. His center told us about the AKF and all our worries were washed away. His premiums were religiously paid every month for the whole time he was on dialysis and I cant thank them enough. When he passed, I asked friends and family to please please make donations to the AKF so they can keep doing the great work they do for so many people.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
while my husband was on dialysis, the AKF paid his insurance premiums religiously every month.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
make more people aware of it inside the dialysis centers. My husband tried a second center and they never told us about this organization. He wound up going back to his original center.

What, if any, change in your life has this group encouraged?
I had my husband longer and the financial worries of his illness were taken away by their help. He worried so much for our financial future because of his illness. He was a volunteer firefighter so he wasnt used to worrying about himself and this organization made it possible for him to enjoy his life.
