Review for The California Wildlife Center, Malibu, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

When I was looking for someplace to do a litte volunteer work over four years ago, CWC had the next available training class, so I chose them. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. It is the best free wildlife education you will ever get...real hands on experience with everything from the smallest baby Hummingbird to Great Horned Owls, Hawks and Pelicans and everything in between. Oh, and all of the native mammals from tiny shrews to our beautiful and shy native Mule Deer. If you love our native wildlife, and want to give back something to their wild world, please go to the cawildlife.org website and sign up for the next training class.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

CWC volunteers don't watch th action from the sidelines, they are right in the midde of it...providing hands on service to injured and orphaned native wildlife. Depending on how often you volunteer, you can be involved in the complete cycle of rescue, rehabilitation and release back into the wild.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

I now have the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in the day to day treatment of native birds and mammals. At my REAL job, I am the person to go to when people have wildlife questions.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

California is a big and beautiful state; working with her wildlife makes me feel like I am paying her back, just a little for all of the wonder she has added to my life.

Role:  Volunteer & Today I released a Band Tailed Pigeon, California's largest native pigeon, to see it fly away after spending two weeks recouperating from an injury in one of our aviaries made my heart sing!.
