Review for Adam's Camp, Englewood, CO, USA
We love Adam's Camp!! Not only for the support for our son with cerebral palsy, but it's fun for the whole family! Sibling programs are great and give an opportunity for sibs to be with others who understand. Parent programs are so informative and fun - giving us a much needed break and support from others. We look forward to going every year and start counting the days until we meet again as we are leaving camp.
BTW, they also have unbelievable expertise for our campers! They have helped with school advocacy and IEP ideas, too. Fantastic model that we haven't seen anywhere else!
Review for Adam's Camp, Englewood, CO, USA
Our family was blown away by the Adam's Camp experience. We have heard about it for years, but this was our first opportunity to attend because our son has been so medically fragile. Our oldest son has Cerebral Palsy, uses a wheelchair, has a G-tube, and requires periodic suctioning for secretions. The Adam's Camp staff met with us about 6 months prior to camp, helped us plan for his care, and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Upon arrival at camp, we were welcomed with open arms and met with the therapy team. Our primary goal was a fun experience for all of our boys (ages 8, 6 and 4). We had no idea how much fun they would have! The therapy staff was amazing! To combine PT, OT, SLP, Art, and Music therapists with two additional volunteers (that's 7) for a group of 5 children from 8:30a to 2:30p for 5 days was stunning to us. The younger boys attended "sibling camp" for their age group and had a ball. Each of the boys ended the week with a scrap book of memories that they shared with each other, family, and friends. They all experienced the joys of camp - Horseback riding, swimming, rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, miniature golf, archery, etc. The staff ensured that they were all safe, our special needs son was included in every activity, and mom and dad were able to have a little time without worry. We loved being able to stay on the campus of Snow Mountain Ranch - what an amazing place! - so that some of the medical care issues could be addressed with the least impact to the children. At the end of the week, we met with the therapy team and could not believe what they were able to accomplish. We really hadn't provided them with substantive goals because we didn't know what to expect. Not only had they put goals together, they far exceeded them, and incorporated their results into his scrapbook so that it could be shared with his home and school therapy teams. It has been truly inspiration to his other therapists and we can't wait for next year. The team recommended that we attend twice next summer, so we're doing everything we can to make that happen. All of the boys regularly ask about going back. Although we were tired, mom and dad are excited about going back too! We would recommend Adam's Camp to ANYONE - it's a fantastic therapy model and a truly wonderful experience for the entire family.
