My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Gibbon Conservation Center, Santa Clarita, CA, USA
When i first went to see the gibbons i was a little unimpressed with the bareness of the area. the enclosures seemed unimpressive and it was very hot as it gets in the Santa Clarita valley in the summer. however the staff was very friendly and extremely informative. they volunteered a wealth of information about gibbons and the center and what they do there. i was amazed that a small place in California could have such a huge impact on the lives of gibbons in south east Asia. i was also in awe of the devotion the staff has to these creatures. they feed them 10 times a day and know intimately the personalities of every one of their 40 gibbons. despite my initial reaction to the barren desert environment i left the center feeling an incredible amount of respect for it and the people who work there and devote their lives to saving these absolutely incredible animals. i even got a great deal of information about the enclosures themselves and realized that though they did not meet my expectations of a lush jungle they did meet much of the gibbons needs, something that i have not realized before. over all i would recommend anyone who wants to learn more about conservation and apes should come to this place.!
