Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA
Pacific Primate Sanctuary is the gold standard for animal care and rescue. The monkeys get to enjoy a life of freedom, friendship, good food (much of it grown on site), stimulating environments, and love from their caregivers. The intern program provides a training ground for future generations dedicated to preserving and caring for endangered species.
Review for Pacific Primate Sanctuary, Inc., Haiku, HI, USA
I've been a PPS donor since its inception and continue to be impressed by the care and concern they show for the monkeys. This is a world-class sanctuary for these endangered and previously abused primates. The resident intern program has provided PPS with a steady stream of highly qualified staff who learn on the job and then transfer these skills to their future career in animal care. The monkey habitats are spotless and stimulating and the grounds are spectacular.
Review for The Coming Home Project, San Francisco, CA, USA
I've been on the Coming Home Project Board since it was founded and am proud to be associated an organization that shows such compassion for and commitment to vets and families. The community building that takes place at the retreats and events does more than fill the gap left by agencies who are too understaffed and overloaded to help. Our vets have given so much, they deserve more than lip service and artifically quick fixes. They deserve to learn how to cope with what they've seen and how to return home and reintegrate with their families. I was not surprised to hear that the DCoE (Defense Centers of Excellence) said that CHP meets or exceeds their recommendations. Our vets keep coming home and we need to support programs like CHP now more than ever.
