Leaving a Lasting Legacy

When my best friend died of terminal cancer at age 39 she left behind a husband and three young kids and an AMAZING LEGACY! When she was first diagnosed with terminal liver cancer on her 30th birthday, she and her husband, Deric, looked for an organization to help their family, especially their children, process this new reality. After learning that no such organization existed, they started Inheritance of Hope, a non-profit organization that serves families with a terminally-ill parent and young children under the age of 18. These families come together in Orlando or NYC for a Legacy Retreat where they make amazing family memories, take part in counseling, and gain tools to be intentional with their legacies. My family and I have been encouraged as hundreds of families have been served and changed because of this organization... now we give of our time and money to serve these families! I personally have chosen to work for this organization and donate all of my salary into serving more families. That is part of my legacy and that makes me so thankful! That is MyGivingStory!

I have been blessed to be a part of Inheritance of Hope for the past 3 years. I have seen many families encouraged, loved and strengthened through this organization. These families all have young children and a parent with a life-threatening illness and often they are struggling. When they encounter Inheritance of Hope they encounter fun, joy, memories, community, counseling, and HOPE! I am so proud to be a part of such a worthwhile and tremendous organization!
