My Nonprofit Reviews

A.T.
Review for Aspire, Dallas, TX, USA
For as long as I can remember, literacy has been one of my deeply held passions. After I moved back to Texas, I made a commitment to myself to give back in some way. And I thought, what better way than to contribute to something I feel so strongly about? I began researching different literacy organizations and making phone calls. I felt an immediate connection to and comfort with LIFT from my initial point of contact and seeing its success stories. It was important to the staff members I spoke with to stay in contact with me and get me engaged in their process. I was so pleased to see the eagerness to learn by the students as well as the positive feedback the volunteer teachers shared with me about their experience while I was observing different classes. The organization is a welcoming and acknowledging environment for its students and often asks for feedback from its volunteers and invites them to get involved. LIFT cares about the students as well as the experience the volunteers have with the organization - a uniquely energizing combination. I volunteer on a weekly basis with LIFT and am truly looking forward to the organization's further growth and impact on the community.
