Review for J'Burgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

J'Burgh is amazing organization, bringing together a wide cross section of Pittsburgh's young Jewish adults. Before moving to Pittsburgh I participated in other Jewish youth groups and organizations, but never found one that kept me coming back. J'Burgh not only kept me coming back but got me excited to the point that I began taking an active role in implementing social programming to connect with more people in town. The quality of programming, from Friday night dinners to Israeli movie nights and sports leagues, makes it easy to for first-timers to come and feel welcome. I've made friends for a lifetime and learned more about my heritage than I ever did in Hebrew school. Most importantly, J'Burgh has helped me see how Judaism will play a role in my life far beyond graduate school. It has helped me connect to a community outside of the classroom and provided a space for me to grow as a Jew and a young adult.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the fantastic programming.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

winning on the softball field. It has taken a few seasons, but we have made significant improvements and will make our first ever post season appearance in a few weeks.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

some of the most interesting people I can imagine. We are work in different fields but share so much in common. It's hard to imagine that we could have found each other without an organization like J'Burgh to bring us together.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

send us all to Israel.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to attend more events. As a graduate student, my free time is limited, but I know that I'm always welcome whenever I have the chance.

One thing I'd also say is that...

J'Burgh provides an invaluable service to a demographic that is often overlooked. I'm in a new city, miles from friends and family but thanks to J'Burgh I have a place to go for the holidays and people that I want to share them with.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
