Review for Pasado's Safe Haven, Sultan, WA, USA
I've volunteered for many animal welfare groups over the years and there are always difficult people and things that you would like to see done differently, so when I began volunteering at Pasado's in 2009, I knew there were problems but decided to keep an open mind. What I hadn't experienced before was the incompetence and (as a previous commenter mentioned) opportunistic behavior of the people running the place. For the salaries paid to two people with pet food and low-end perfume backgrounds, they could have hired Wayne Pacelle from HSUS or another very high profile animal welfare non profit leader. Stacie and Matt ran off so many dedicated and passionate people - passionate about animals that is, not money. Then in late 2011 they ran off many long-term volunteers for trying to save Rio, a blind and deaf dog, from execution at their hands. I guess Pasado's is a Safe Haven for opportunistic D-level players trying to double the salaries they'd be able to earn in the private sector; not so much for animals.
