Review for Asha for Education, Los Angeles, CA, USA
I have been a volunteer for Asha over 5 years now. It has been a great platform for me to affect positive change in India by identifying, funding and interacting with deserving educational projects. I have met many inspiring people, both dedicated volunteers and grass-root workers through Asha. I have gained an understanding about basic socio-economic and education related issues in India. On the whole participation within Asha has helped to make my life more meaningful. Asha is a completely flat organization, which means that you can walk into one of their meetings for the first time and get involved and start contributing right then and there.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
funding worthy projects and doing follow up to ensure that the money was being spent effectively and efficiently
What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
apart from the noble cause, the scope it gives for personal development.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
absolutely awesome. Some of them were students, some working professionals, some retirees, but all of them were motivated and brought in their wide range of experiences to the orrganization.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
probably serve more projects and take projects of a bigger nature. But right now I would like to see it consolidate the ones that it has and do the best job with them before expanding.
Ways to make it better...
there were more coordination amongst the different chapters located in different geographical locations. In the present format each chapter works independently and is loosely connected through an central entity.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
to do a more effective job at connecting the different chapters of the organization as a whole.
