Review for Women's Intercultural Center Inc, Anthony, NM, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I came down to learn about the border and immigration issues through the Border Awareness Experience offered by the center. Hands down it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and I have to highlight the best parts were the professionalism and how much the center does to meet the needs of the community, the experience was perfectly designed to show two sides of the issue anti and pro immigrant. It was amazing learning about the law enforcement and governmental hardships that are faced when dealing with the border and immigration. I saw a face of Border Patrol and the Justice System that does not appear on the news at all. Everyone should take an experience just like this so they can learn more about what happens on the border because it affects us on a national level. My final comment deals with what was the best part of the experience and that was dealing with the Border Awareness Experience Director Saif. I have never met any individual like this as he was very knowledgeable on the issues affecting the border and immigration. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the experience and added anything we needed. His values were exceptional and if you come down to take part in the program ask for him and you will never regret it. Saif is an inspiration and I hope to one day meet him again when he runs for politics. Good luck to the future of the Center.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

hands down the Center is the place to be to learn about Border & Immigration Issues. I was able to see all of the Hispano culture that is in Anthony and El Paso. It is this culture that can truly make an impact on the rest of the country. Learning from such an experienced individual like Saif who designed the experience, I learned that it is important to know both sides of the issue. I learned how to change the law if I see that it is wrong or unfair. A huge thanks to WinC and Saif.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

None but don't let Saif leave.

How would you describe the help you got from this organization?

Life-changing

How likely are you to recommend this organization to a friend?

Definitely

How do you feel you were treated by this organization?

Very Well

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2012

How did you find this group?

Through my university.

What, if any, change in your life has this group encouraged?

It has encouraged me to learn about both sides of an issue before making a case or decision. It has also taught me that in order to advocate for those in need you need to change the laws. Meeting with all of the organizations I know now what I want to do in the future when I become an Immigration Attorney and later run for politics.

Role:  Client Served & I attended the Border Awareness Experience and met with groups such as Border Patrol, Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center, La Mujer Obrera, and visited the Chamizel. This was a great experience. .
