Review for Animal Park at the Conservators Center, Burlington, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I happened across an article on the Conservators Center in AAA's magazine last fall and thought it looked like a place I might enjoy visiting. My granddaughter, a friend and I visited the center around the first of December and they had just gotten settled into the new building which now houses their offices, a meeting room and gift store. We decided to do the late evening tour and knew it would get dark before we finished. The sun was getting low in the sky as we sat on the deck and waited for our tour to begin. We were treated to the big cats roaring and an occasional howl of the wolves. That was so awesome. The lady that conducted our tour was so knowledgeable and it quickly became apparent that these animals were very special to her. It did get dark by the time we got to the big cats but many of them did come up to the fences for us to see them. And Arthur of course, stole the show. He is so beautiful and it was very easy to see this handsome white tiger with a flashlight and the white lights they had on the fence. We were treated to cookes, hot chocolate and hot cider after the tour and had a chance to ask questions and learn more about this extremely interesting place. My only disappointment was that it was hard to get any pictures in the dark but it the big cats were active in the night and I loved hearing their roars. These are very dedicated people who love these animals and give them the best care possible. I don't like seeing animals confined and wish all of them could be in the wild where they belong, but the animals that are at the Conservators Center can not be returned to the wild, but they are given the best care and their lives are made as good as possible at this place by people who truly love them. I will be visiting again very soon.
