Review for Sun Valley Adaptive Sports Program, Inc., Ketchum, ID, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Sun Valley Adaptive Sports is a life changer. I am an Iraq vet with many disabilities. I was selected to go to a winter sports camp in Sun Vallry, Idaho. This organization picked up the whole bill for my wife and I. We had a great, empowering week. I was able to forget my suffering and begin to move on. This is much more than a free vacation. I made many friends and I am still in regular contact with the staff at Sun Valley. I have never ran into folks who are that dedicated to the lives of veterans. They have also put me in touch with many other nonprofits that have helped improve my life. I can honestly say that without their intervention in my life suicided was in my future. Not everything is perfect now but I am glad to be here with my family. Thank you, Tom, Bert, Kate and the rest of the higher ground staff.

I was in the USAF, I served in Iraq and was discharged due to injuries received as a result of my service. The military rushed through my discharge process and skipped my final dental appointment. I had a chipped front tooth and this was very important to me. The military gave me a contract in writing that guarnteed that the VA would fix any dental problems that I may have. 7 years passed as well as meetings with senators and congressmen and the VA refused to honor their contract. By this time my front tooth was almost missing and I had many other problems. It was a constant reminder of the let down I had suffered at the hands of the VA. Not the only one, just one I saw every time I walked by a mirror. You can imagine the effect on self esteem it had. I was referred to HHN by another vet organization. These guys are great! No messing around at all. They found a dentist less then 40 miles away, I live in a very rural area. Within a month I was being seen and within 2 months all of my problems were fixed. This is truly first class treatment. Now everytime I pass a mirror I am reminded how great really are out there, plus a boost to self esteem...
