Review for Acme Theatre Company, Davis, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Acme Theatre Company has changed and bettered my life so much. I remember when I first joined I was so nervous for the audition. But Emily, the Artistic Director, made me feel calm and made me smile as soon as I walked in the door. And although I didn't get in the play, there was PLENTY of opportunities to get involved. I helped tech for it and I just couldn't get enough of it. Since then, Acme has become one of my passions and I feel that without it, I'd be lost in a world of blandness and nothing but school. Not only has Acme taught me many life lessons, but I can now call pretty much everyone in the company part of my family.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I wouldn't change a thing. I mean, other than our lack of financial help, Acme is perfect.

Would you volunteer for this group again?

Definitely

For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?

A lot

Did the organization use your time wisely?

Very Well

Would you recommend this group to a friend?

Definitely

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2012

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?

Nothing. Because all groups have their ups and downs, but for Acme, our downs make us better.

Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)

This introduced me to a whole new group of people as well as widen my view on theatre and taught me how to just live my life better.

How did this volunteer experience make you feel?

Amazing in every way. Not only do you learn to work well with others, but you gain trust from those outside you general group of friends and you grow together.

Role:  Volunteer & I was an ASM (Assistant Stage Manager) and later an actress in it. Now I am the Apprentice Stage Manager.
