Review for Birthright Israel Foundation, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

How can you not love Birthright? Free trip, amazing cultural experience, and fantastic trip leaders showing you around the country. Birthright is a fantastic organization which lives up to its high praise.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

taking a Birthright Israel Trip

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the trip!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very knowledgeable, fair, and open minded.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I think this organization does have 10 million bucks

Ways to make it better...

I wasn't initially rejected for my trip!

Review for San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I volunteered at the SF LGBT center years back when they had initially remodeled their facility, and I was very impressed with the services they offered. They had a day care component, cafe, and a range of programs to help expand community outreach for LGBT programs. Since then, I have been to the LGBT center during the No on Prop 8 activities, and I think they serve an important value for the community at large.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the ability to connect to a broader community, the outlet for LGBT and supporters

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very friendly, helpful, and informative

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand its programs

Review for California Environmental Voters, Oakland, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

CLCV is a great organization with engaged environmentalists helping educate and inform voters about conservation. After being involved in their Asian American outreach research, I really saw their commitment to including all communities in their environmental education.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

research, the news, and outreach in communities that are normally not engaged in environmental outreach

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

embarking on groundbreaking research

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

dependable, reliable, committed

Ways to make it better...

we could do the same type of outreach for all communities, but that would require substantially more money and funding

Review for Mission Learning Center, San Francisco, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Mission Learning Center is an amazing organization that has helped make a substantial impact on the San Francisco community. Since joining the Board of Directors, I have seen former students come back to discuss their experiences, crediting Mission Learning Center for instilling a lifelong dedication to reading that helped propel them to law school and other successful careers. The Mission Learning Center's ability to improve reading by 2 grade levels in less than a year is testament to MLC's powerful and proven techniques in working with students and parents to enhance education.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing the impact it has had on students ten, twenty years after they completed the program. It shows the power of getting involved early in the education process, helping build the foundation for literacy and learning.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

incredibly friendly, bright, and involved. As a small organization, Mission Learning Center chooses its staff carefully and wisely, with bilingual and trained professionals helping children read and learn.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

expand its programs to include more children and more schools. With such successful results, expanding Mission Learning Center to more communities would benefit children across the Bay Area!
