My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for ChildFund International, Richmond, VA, USA
After over 40 years of sponsoring children in India and Thailand through CCF, my husband and I have decided that, after our current child leaves school, we will discontinue donating money to what is now called ChildFund International. We always send special money gifts several times a year to our child, and last year ChildFund started taking 20 percent off the top for what they outrageously said was for the delivery of that money! In the current economy, we can't afford to send more money to our child to make up the difference, so to us it ChildFund looks like it is positioning itself to be the fat cat between financially struggling sponsors and needy children. It is a shame, but we have lost faith in the good intentions of this charity.

On behalf of ChildFund I understand your concern, however, processing special gifts/gift amounts does have an associated cost. They include transferring funds, currency exchange, creation of receipts, thank you letters, translations of the letters and postage. I hope this helps explain the fee and I want you to know it was not a decision ChildFund took lightly.
